Of all the National Days on the calendar, Mario Day is maybe the most fun. March 10, written as “Mar10” since it looks like Mario’s name, is a celebration of the smiling, cheerful mustached Mario character, one of the most popular video game characters of all time, initially released as part of the Nintendo game in 1985.
On National Mario Day, fans come together to salute how he enriched people’s childhood.
With that in mind, BetOhio took a brief sabbatical from discussing Ohio sports betting apps to look at the states that are still interested in their beloved game (and soon to be animated movie – release date is April 5) after all these years.
BetOhio utilized Google Trends to see the search volume in each of the U.S. states for “Mario”. What are the states with the most interest?
In this order, in terms of popularity: Illinois, Utah, Arizona, California, New Jersey, Washington, Texas, Indiana, Ohio, and Massachusetts.
Let's just say we were impressed with Ohio coming in at No. 9 out of 50 states, because unlike other high-ranking states like Illinois and Utah, Ohio actually has some decent sports stories to follow at the moment, particularly the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs, who seem to finally have rebounded from losing LeBron James yet again, are currently 41-26, good for 4th place in the Eastern Conference. They even have +1000 odds to advance to the NBA Finals with a Caesars Sportsbook Ohio promo code.
And yet, Ohio residents are still making time for Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and the gang.
For Ohio fans of the character, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong. The film is based on the world of Super Mario Bros.
Mario has appeared in over 200 video games, making him one of the most popular video game characters of all time. The original Super Mario Bros. game sold over 40 million copies worldwide.
Ohio super fans of Mario will no doubt be playing Mario games on March 10, getting into the spirit of Mario’s famous adventures. Classic games include Super Mario Bros., Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Odyssey. Those fans who feel extra festive might want to dress up as the character for a day. Just remember your signature red hat, overalls and mustache.
