NL Manager of the Year Odds 2025: Who Is Favored To Win Honor?

Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

It might not have the prestige of the Most Valuable Player or Cy Young awards, but the Manager of the Year is one of the big honors baseball writers vote on at the end of the season.

What does it take to become the Manager of the Year? While winning a division certainly helps, defying expectations (in a good way, of course) among fans or Ohio betting sites is also a consideration. If a team projected to finish .500 wins 90 or more games, chances are their manager will be a favorite.

Below are the odds from FanDuel for the 2025 National League Manager of the Year.

2025 NL Manager of the Year Favorites

Itā€™s somewhat of a surprise that Chicago Cubs skipper Craig Counsell has never won NL Manager of the Year. Prior to taking over the Cubs last season, the former 16-year major league utility infielder led the Milwaukee Brewers from 2015 to 2023. Milwaukee reached the postseason five times under Counsell, with its best run in 2019 when the Brewers lost the NLCS to the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games.

He has been close, though, earning votes each year from 2017 to 2023. Four times in that span he finished second in polling by the Baseball Writersā€™ Association of America. Wagering on MLB awards is legal from operators offering real money Ohio sportsbook promotions.

Francona, meanwhile, won the American Leagueā€™s award three times during his 11 years in Cleveland. If he becomes the second Reds skipper to win the NL award (Jack McKeon, 1999), heā€™d also become the ninth since the award was established in 1983 to be honored in both leagues.

It would likely take the Reds making the playoffs for Francona to receive serious consideration. Oddsmakers at DraftKings Ohio Sportsbook give the Reds +300 odds to reach the postseason.

Franconaā€™s previous MOY awards in Cleveland came in 2013, 2016 and 2022. In an interesting twist, he did not win the honor in either 2004 or 2007, both years in which Francona led the Boston Red Sox to the World Series title.
