Ohio Ranks Among States Most Interested in Superman Week

Fact Checked by Jim Tomlin

Few superheroes unite fans of all backgrounds quite like Clark Kent and his alter ego Superman. The nationwide fascination with Superman dates to the character’s comic book debut in 1938 and has run through a host of feature films between 1948 and 2023.

June 10-13 is the official “Superman Week” so BetOhio.com took a pause from reviewing Ohio sportsbook apps to celebrate. We wanted to know which states are the biggest fans of the character within the DC Universe known as Superman. Using Google Trends, we found and ranked states that are most interested in the superhero, based on search interest score, compared to other topics. This was a seven-day search conducted between May 30 and June 6, 2024. For the search term “Superman.”

Born On Krypton But Created In Ohio

Still, few states in America share a universal love of the red-and-blue clad superhero like the Buckeye State, with Ohioans holding a unique level of search interest in the DC comic book stalwart in 2024.

Small wonder: Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, who created Superman in the 1930s, were from Cleveland (the photo at the top of this story is from a 2017 Superman exhibit at the Cleveland Public Library).
