Myles Garrett Trade Destinations: Odds For Browns’ Star Defensive End To Be Traded

Myles Garrett has done everything that could be expected of him since the defensive end was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Yet the Cleveland Browns are going in the wrong direction and the 29-year-old star has asked for a trade.

Though it seems unthinkable, here we are asking: Could the Browns deal their best player?

BetOhio.com developed these odds for which teams would be most likely to have a trade package good enough to entice Cleveland to deal Garrett, who would undoubtedly bring a lot of value in return. Here are or odds on just that scenario. These odds are exclusive to BetOhio and not offered by operators that have the best Ohio sports betting promotions:

Garrett Has Been Outstanding

There is no offseason anymore in the NFL; there is only a time when there are no games. So it is that, just days after the Super Bowl, we're again weighing the chances that Myles Garrett, who was named the Sporting News Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season in 2024, will move on from his Northeast Ohio home.

Garrett had perhaps his finest season in 2023, his seventh year in the league since he was the top overall pick coming out of Texas A&M. He was named the Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press, the Pro Football Writers of America and the Sporting News. Garrett had 14 sacks, 30 quarterback hits, four forced fumbles and a career-high Approximate Value of 20 at Pro-Football-Reference.com.

His huge 2023 season helped the Browns to a playoff berth, rewarding their futures bettors at Ohio betting sites, but the 2024 season was very different in Cleveland.

Garrett's performance was still among the league's best in 2024. He was named first-team All-Pro for the fourth time and earned his sixth career spot in the Pro Bowl. He had 14 sacks (the fourth season in a row with at least that many) and an AV of 17, by far the best on the team (Pro Bowl defensive back Denzel Ward was second with an AV of 9). He was third in AP DOPY voting in addition to his second such award from The Sporting News.

But the Browns finished 3-14, eight wins fewer than the year before. Starting quarterback Deshaun Watson was lost for the season after suffering an Achilles injury and the team went through a litany of QBs after that.

Our Cleveland Browns draft analysis gives you a preview of what the team might do in April's draft, assuming they keep the No. 2 overall pick (we also look at what the Cincinnati Bengals could do at No. 17 overall).

Myles Garrett Requests Trade

On Feb. 3, Garrett released a statement revealing that he has requested that the Browns, the only organization he has played for in eight NFL seasons, accommodate his wish to be traded. He refers to Canton, the nearby site of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and how he says getting to the Hall was not his primary goal, though induction could well be in his future.

The statement said, in part: "While I've loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won't allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns."

As the Philadelphia Eagles enjoy their Super Bowl 59 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, odds for the 2025-26 season are already up at Caesars Ohio Sportsbook. The Browns are listed at +15000 to win a Super Bowl for the first time about a year from now.

Will Myles Garrett Stay With Browns?

All of this raises the question: Will the Browns reload? Will coach Kevin Stefanski or general manager Andrew Berry even be around to make that decision? Stefanski is the 10th coach the Browns have had since they returned to the league in 1999, so they’re not a model of organizational stability.

And if there is a reload, will Garrett be one of the players sent packing? He likely would bring back a bigger haul in a potential trade than anyone else on the team, even with eight NFL seasons under his belt. On the other hand, just because a player requests a trade, that does not mean a team has to grant it.

Our guide to the best NFL betting apps will give you general tips for wagering, but as for this particular topic? We’d say don’t sell your Myles Garrett No. 95 jersey yet, Browns fans.

We think there is a 36.4% implied probability (or +175 odds) that the star defensive end will stay in Cleveland, at least for now. That's well down from the 80% chance that we had in October and even below the 44.4% chance that we gave this scenario at the start of February.

If Garrett were on the trading block, the Browns would have no shortage of suitors. We think the most likely outcome, besides him staying put, is that he’d he traded to the Washington Commanders (+800), Buffalo Bills or Chicago Bears (both +1000). Washington and Chicago are in the NFC, so there would be less chance of Garrett coming back to torch the Browns while wearing another uniform. Buffalo is in the AFC East, so at least the Bills are not a division rival for Cleveland.

The big offseason event is April's NFL Draft and Ohio sportsbook apps will have an array of prop bets.
