With the 2024-25 NBA season nearing its halfway point, BetOhio.com was curious which of the 30 teams has the most loyal fans. We created a scoring system using the following factors: Average attendance for home and away games, X followers, and team records from the past three full seasons (2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24). With head coach Kenny Atkinson and his players on pace for 72 wins at their current winning percentage, there’s a good chance that the Cavs set a franchise record for the most wins in a season. In 2008-09, Cleveland finished went 66-16 (.805) under head coach Mike Brown.
This year, Atkinson and the Cavaliers are listed at +1100 to win the club’s first NBA title without LeBron James in the lineup on DraftKings Ohio Sportsbook. That ranks fourth in the NBA behind the Boston Celtics (+250), Thunder (+265) and New York Knicks (+900) as of Jan. 14.
Based on our scoring system, the Cavaliers finished eighth in the 30-team NBA when it came to fan loyalty with 30.58 points. They’re sandwiched between the seventh-ranked Philadelphia 76ers (25.62) and No. 9 Los Angeles Clippers (31.56), but well behind the NBA-leading Los Angeles Lakers, who had 15.50 points.
Conversely, Cavaliers fans ranked well ahead of the NBA’s least loyal fanbases, such as the 30th ranked Sacramento Kings, who finished with 75.50 points, and the No. 29 Charlotte Hornets (74.37).
At bet365 Ohio Sportsbook, the Cavs are the second choice to win the Eastern Conference at +350 odds, behind the defending NBA champion Celtics (+100).
For now, Atkinson and the Cavaliers look to get back on track after their 12-game winning streak was snaped on Sunday at home against the Indiana Pacers. Cleveland has a rematch against its East rival from the Hoosier State tonight, with TNT, TruTV and Max airing the contest live nationally at 7 p.m. Eastern time.
Atkinson’s first season with the club has the chance to build loyalty, however, as Cleveland is currently on pace for a historic season. Wins are stacking up right and left and the Cavaliers are sitting pretty in their pursuit of the franchise’s second Larry O’Brien Trophy this spring. Ohio sportsbook apps have plenty of game odds, futures bets and player props throughout the NBA season.
